Running Groups FAQs
Where do we meet?
Finsbury Park Groups
Meet by the park gates nearest to Lidl on Severn Sisters Road
Which group is right for me?
The Beginners Group starts very gently with 1 minute of running at a time in week one. We build each week until you’re running 5k in week 10. If you’ve never run before or are starting running again after a long break, you should start here.
If you can run for 25 mins or longer, you should join the Improvers Group. We don’t run for this long non-stop as we do interval training each week. The longest we tend to run for without stopping is about 10 mins. However, being able to run for 25 mins is a good indicator of the fitness needed for this group.
What should I wear?
Come in whatever you’re comfortable in. All I ask is that you leave your headphones at home. Some people like to run with music but you’ll need to be able to hear me while you’re running and it’s more friendly for running in a group to be able to chat to each other.
Is there anywhere to store bags?
Unfortunately not. I run with a small running back pack and I’m happy to carry small items like your keys or purse. If you plan to bring more than this with you I’d suggest getting a small running backpack that you’re comfortable running with. If you need an inhaler, please make sure you bring this with you and keep it on you.
What if I can’t make it?
Trains are delayed, childcare falls through, you catch a cold – these things happen. If for any reason you can’t make it to a session, just let me know – preferably before the start of your session so that we don’t wait around for you.
I don’t issue refunds for sessions you haven’t been able to attend as you’ve signed up for the course as a whole and I don’t take new members once the group has started.
If I have to cancel a session because I’m ill, I will either schedule another or issue you a refund proportional to the number of cancelled sessions.
What if it’s raining?
We run every week, even if it’s raining. I’ve had to cancel and reschedule a session in the past but this has been due to very high winds when it would be unsafe to run with falling branches. If I have to cancel a session I will email you in advance. I’ve never cancelled a session because of rain.
If you’ve signed up for the course but have to pull out, I will issue a full refund up to 14 days before your group’s first run. After this point I will offer a 50% refund up to 7 days before your group’s first run. After this point, no refunds will be issued but you will be offered the option to transfer to the next available group.
