Just when everything was coming together – my attitude was positive, my training sessions were going well – I seem to have come across my first hurdle. My left foot hurts.

My left foot has always been the more troublesome of the two and would often niggle a bit when I tried to sit crossed-legged. Since my 3.5-mile run on Sunday it has been more troublesome than normal. It felt fine during the run but started to play up a bit afterwards. It got to the point that while shopping in Sainsbury’s post-run I couldn’t put all of my weight on my left foot in certain positions.

Since then it has calmed down a bit but the pain is still there. I’ve isolated it to being mainly when I turn my foot anti-clockwise, which I’m sure I don’t need to do all that often so maybe it’s not so much of a problem?

I’m due for a run tonight and really want to go but I’m now thinking that maybe rest is best.
