With temperatures in the minus figures not a lot of running is going on in my world. If you have slightly more motivation than me right now and are keen not to let ‘the big freeze’ stop you in your tracks, here’s a few tips to help you on your way. All tried and tested by yours truly.

1) Warm your clothes up on a radiator before you go out.

2) Fill a drinks bottle (one of the doughnut types is best) with hot water and carry it with you – by the time you want to drink it it will have cooled down enough.

3) Sleep in your running clothes (clean kit please). Just jump out of bed in the morning and off you go, no getting changed in the cold.

4) If its icy or there’s snow underfoot, shorten your stride and slow down. This will help you stay on your feet and not on your arse.

Happy running!
