radioYesterday I was on BBC Radio Scotland’s Personal Best programme again, this time talking about fitness trackers. They first had me on a few weeks back reviewing running apps and invited me back this week to review a few fitness trackers in the run up to Christmas.

I don’t actually have to travel to Scotland to do this, they book me into a studio in London and I sit there with headphones on and a microphone just as though I was there with the presenter, only I can’t see her.

When I arrived at the studio yesterday, there was a big crowd gathered outside and some paparazzi. The studio for BBC 6 Music is in the same building and some fans were obviously waiting for someone to come out. I was running a little late and now I was worried that I’d be turned away as some chancer when I tried to get in the building.

I saw a woman ahead who was striding confidently through the crowd, so I followed closely behind her and in through the front door. At the desk my pass was waiting for me and they waved me through – and then I bumped into Tom Jones. He was standing in the doorway that I needed to walk through, so I squeezed past without stopping to ask for a selfie.

After a mild case of ‘imposter syndrome’ as I walked up to the building, I got in the booth, put my headphones on and started chatting. You can listen to it here.

The fitness trackers I mention are:

Fitbit Surge
Garmin 15 (review to come)
Microsoft Band
Basis Peak
