Welcome to a new decade and goodbye the last one. For the most part it served us well. A new year and a new decade offers us the opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start again, but that’s sometimes a scary prospect. Yesterday I hit my target mileage for the year of 800 miles (to mark the finish line and the achievement I took this lovely photo). But with the striking of Big Ben and the clock ticking over to 2011 my mileage plummeted back down to a big fat zero. For the past 12 months I’ve been clocking up miles and smiling as the number grew, but now I’m starting again from nothing.
Rather than being scared by the empty page I’ve set myself some ambitious goals for 2011, pulled on my trainers for Day 1 of Janathon and started clocking up miles. I say miles but that’s a bit of a lie – I ran 1 mile, the bare minimum I’ve set myself for each day of Janathon.
My running goals for 2011
1) Run my second marathon – sub 4 hours
2) Sub 50 minute 10k PB
3) Sub 1.55 half-marathon PB
4) Complete Janathon – run every day in January
5) 1000 miles run in 2011
Feel free to leave your goals for the year in the comments – I’d love to hear them.
