This week I turn 30. The kind people at the Thailand International Half Marathon reminded me of this just yesterday by sending me an online registration form to fill in for the race next week. For the first time I ticked 30-35 as that will be my box when I race.

I don’t mind turning 30. It’s just a new age ranking and WAVA score after all. I shall spend the day in a jungle in northern Thailand trekking up a mountain and swimming in a waterfall. This is in no way a trip engineered to keep me out of phone signal and away from birthday texts.

As I crossed ‘run a marathon’ off my things-to-do-before-turning-30 list quite a while ago I’ve been thinking I need some running-related challenges to, if nothing else, bore you senseless with. And why have a birthDAY when you can have a birthYEAR right? So for my year of being 30, here’s 10 three-themed running challenges.

1. Do a triathlon
2. Three marathons
3. Three half marathons
4. Three foreign races
5. A marathon PB of 3 hours something
6. A new 3-mile PB
7. Go to the track three times
8. Run a minimum three times a week
9. Run a minimum three miles a run
10. An awesome (which you’ll remember is three PBs in a six-week period).
