I’m not usually one to leave things to the last minute. If I have a deadline I like to give myself a day’s grace by finishing early, I like to be early for trains and planes )on Christmas Eve I was actually an hour early for my train), and I posted my Christmas cards as soon as we hit December. So it’s very much out of character that I’ll wake up on New Year’s Eve still with 4 miles to run before I hit my target for the year. Today I ran 4 miles, yesterday I ran 6, the day before that I ran 6 and on Christmas Day and Boxing Day I ran 4 and 5 miles respectively. Talk about leaving it to the last minute. But 800 miles was my goal and I’m determined to make it.

(That’s me running on Christmas Day 2009 – I didn’t take my camera this year but the route, conditions and outfit were identical.)

My legs are pretty tired after running five days out of the last six and I’m looking forward to a rest day. But I won’t be getting one of those until 1 February. There’s the small matter of Janathon that’s getting in the way of me sitting on the sofa and not leaving the flat for 24 hours solid as I’ve said I’ll run every day during January. I think I deserve a sports massage as a belated Christmas gift to myself.

Merry Christmas readers, I hope you’ve enjoyed the year. You may be interested, though not necessarily delighted to know, that I’ll also be blogging every day during Janathon. Expect typos as I’m taking the blog mobile!
